Losing Weight Tips For The Busy Person
From the mid 20’s on many adults that never had a weight problem start to find the size of clothing in their closets expanding. This gain in weight is usually the result of a slowing metabolism, our work such as sitting at a desk all day, more stress in our life and less physical activity than when we were younger. For woman there is the added weight gain of having children.
We look for help to loose weight and day after day, week after week we are bombarded with weight loss advertisements from pills to programs and mysterious weight loss products. Many of these seem very appealing yet in our heart we realize that many of the latest diet crazes are not what they are advertised to be. Still, looking at those young toned bodies running on the beach and remembering when you were once young makes the fad diets hard to resist. The problem with most of these diets is that they are only a temporary fix. You are not curing the problem you are only treating the symptom.
What we don’t want to hear is that the solution is really simple? Eat less and more exercise. We are told to
walk more, join a gym, buy a scale and weigh every bite of food we put in our mouth. Some of this may be good advice but for many of us it is way too restrictive. We need a weight loss diet plan that we can live with and that will fit in with our lifestyle.
Here are a few tips that will give you help to lose weight.
· Look at the food you are eating, Read the labels, check the serving size and just don’t assume that when the label gives the number of calories or fat per serving the entire package is a single serving.
· Start to move more. Park your car further away from the door at work or entry to the shopping center. Walk up the stairs instead of taking the elevator.
· If you eat lunches out on a regular basis start packing your own lunch. Your wallet will get heavier and you will get lighter.
· Vacuum the carpet an extra time each week and instead of a quick vacuuming do it thoroughly. Your carpet will last longer and with the extra exercise you are getting so will you.
· Spend more time outdoors doing yard work or catching up on those chores that you have been putting off. The yard will start to look better and so will you.
· After dinner take the dog or kids for a walk. You will enjoy the fresh air and break from the television and probably sleep much better.
· Purchase a Nintendo WII and start to play golf, bowling or one of the other fun activities that it offers. This is family fun that everyone can participate in from the very young to the very old. You will get some great exercise and if your family or roommates will enjoy the time together.
· Last of all find a weight loss diet plan that you can live with for the long term. Find a diet plan that will neither starve you nor encourage you to cheat. This may not be a so-called fast weight loss plan. Stick with whatever diet plan you choose and you will most certainly be proud of your accomplishments. Remember that loosing weight need not be stressful or hard. Handle your diet as if you were eating an elephant – one bite at a time!
